Storytelling week

National Storytelling Week celebrates the oral tradition of storytelling every year and there are some fun events taking place in the UK. Storytelling Week takes place in storytelling clubs, theatres, museums, schools, Universities and hospitals. Where ever the events take place, the web of stories will be spun with sufficient magic between the breath of the teller and the ear of the listener.

The children at Happy Days Centre have been enjoying lots of storytelling activities and events all day. We hope all the activities linked to stories will continue to inspire and motivate the children to love telling, reading and writing stories.

Every class has been reading different traditional tales and fairy stories, and they have made a lot of crafts to celebrate this! Also, the children in different groups went to read to another group. Our student's prepared props for their stories, questions about it and all were challenged to tell a story in front of an audience. It was an amazing experience for all our groups. The children listened carefully and used the puppets to talk about different parts of the story. The stories were a mix of adventure, fantasy, classic fairy tales and Christmas related. Our school was a calm storytelling oasis!
